Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day .

No joke, it is. Not all that much updated though. Looking forward to seeing one of these on the water.

Just from what I've heard on here, if these things really run up to 9,000 rpm or whatever it is, won't that make the motor just as loud as a 2 stroke. I know my motor is louder at 6000 rpm then it is at 3000.

Now they NEED a tiller handle w/power steering for the
150hp-200hp SHO and the proper gear ratio to be a good
tiller motor. There's nothing wrong with their looks!

If you check out the Yamaha "Hot Sheet" that James posted last week, you'll see that the RPMs at WOT are in the 5000-6000 range, and that the HP ratings correspond to 5500 RPM.

Here's the link to that "Hot Sheet" with all the specs on these motors. >>> Yamaha SHO 2009 Hot Sheet

As Jason pointed out, these motors have the same basic RPM range as previous Yamaha motors.
