Rainy Lake Special Edition!! Expedition fishing!!

Gentleman Start your Engines!! I thought it might be nice to cover what I like to refer to as "Expedition Fishing". Rainy Lake is truely the portable fishermans paradise. There is endless structure virtually untouched by anglers from the End of November until the ice cracks in spring. For the angler who likes an adventure I invite you to lock in your portables and load up your sleds. Rainy Lake is calling you home!!
NICE!! In these "Expedition trips" getting there is truly half of the fun. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, and with your Otter in tow Voyageurs national Park is yours for the day. Equipment is important as whether we're portaging across islands or running through back channels gear needs to be properly secured. Riders want to have both eyes peeled for Deer, Moose, wolves, snowshoe rabbits, and many other furbearing animals inhabiting this 'winterwonderland'. In the hustle and bustle of todays world escaping to the vastness of Rainy lake has an appeal like few other destinations. There is a sense of adventure realized when you finally arrive to your fishing destinations, and I can always see it in the faces of our customers when the helmets are removed by the big smiles!!
Trophy Walleyes are lurking!! Fishing of course can be nothing short of fantastic. Large pike and walleyes are to be had without the pressure of an easier accessed bites. The sounds of the Strikemaster Solo echos through the park like a lone Chainsaw on the ridge, and I always figure a park ranger might come to the calling expecting foul play from a lost logger. The hum of the flashers and heaters are the only sounds you here. There isn't any loud trucks or football games next to your fishing hole, and I believe the solitudes allow anglers to thoroughly enjoy and relax while they concentrate on icing a Rainy Lake Trophy!!
Get Some!! So the next time someone bangs a football off the side of your ice shack, or someone decides to set up camp mere feet away from your fishing destination.........Close your eyes and think Rainy lake Baby!! Click your Pack boots together, and maybe you'll find yourself here!! Where the fish are big and the crowds are small. If the fishing doesn't hook you there is no doubt in my mind the tranquil setting of the majestic fishing desitination will reel you in year after year!! Voyageurs National Parks is the only National Park encompassed by water. Many feel it is much easier to explore via snowmobile and portable fishhouse!! And Boys........It is right here in Minnesota!!

Great read Chris.
I've had the pleasure of spending some time at Rainy during the open water season and I can only imagine what it would be like to expierence it in the winter. It's one of the most scenic places I have ever fished in the upper midwest.
I'm looking forward to another open water trip this September but now you have me thinking that a ice trip would be an expierence of a lifetime too.
