Wow James! I grew up fishing that lake! I've fished that lake since I was 10 years old! My buddy's parents live on the lake and it is one hell of a bass lake. I got one bass over 7lbs. on that lake and is on my wall. Wow...how did you know about that lake....let me guess Steve? It's a good lake but man its not nearly as good as it once was. I've seen guys keep stringers of 5lb. + fish on that lake and it made me sick. Anyways, cool video, but I still can't believe you made a video out there.

Congrats guys on another great mega minnow show. Brings back some great memories Steve when you and I used to fish that lake together.

Yeah I've only caught maybe 15 smallmouth ever on that lake in 15 years of fishing the lake. One went 20 inches though that I caught at night.

Considering we filmed on that lake during a nasty cold front and Steve hadn't been there in years... I'd say that little lake is a gem.

Steve used to fish that lake from time to time with his brothers in years past. He hadn't been there for a few years but it was a lake he felt we could do well without a lot of prep work.

That's very unfortunate. A lake that size just isn't going to be able to support any amount of harvest on those larger fish.

The largest fish we caught at the end of the show were taken off a pair of small mid-level points that extended out into deeper water. Those little points would be VERY easy to overlook. On that day they were loaded with large baitfish and the largies were right in there with them. I wish we would have had more time to really dig into that pattern more as my gut tells me there were some real brutes to be had. When Steve and I stuck that pair at the end of the day we were literally saying "all we need is a kicker fish and we have a show." Thankfully they came as a matching set (although I think mine WAS a little bigger. )!

Just watched this for the 1st time even though i knew about the episode for at least 7-8 months. I used to pound the Largies on that lake in the summer, especially the first week of June. During the video when you guys were casting by the dock that 2 northerns just held onto the minnows, 1 more dock to the North and i caught my personal best MN Largemouth... a nice 23" that had just spawned out and still went 6-13 #'s. Also, at the dock that you guys were fishing, in June a guy could catch his limit of 15-20" walleyes almost every night. But, that was 5-8 yrs ago. I typically go to this lake 2-3 times a year when i have the itch for nice Largies. Either that or the River is screwing w/ me and the Smallies don't want to bite. Great Video!!

That day on the water on that little lake was my one and only opportunity but that lake sure impressed me! We caught nice largies, one solid smallie, a bunch of pike and one solid walleye on a cold and blustery fall day when the fish were FAR from active. Steve hadn't fished it for a number of years but he had stories similar to yours from "back in the day."
