What a great show and to think that these Augsust Walleyes are just a short ride from my house. Dustin, I'll be contacting you about setting up a day to go after the Mississippi wing dam eyes.

great show, James or Dustin, how far from the dam do you usually position the back of the boat to start your fishing? I know you sometimes have to re-position, but just an idea what your first setup would be. thanks-John

James,
You and Dustin looked so comfortable doing the wing dam show, I felt like I was there with you. I always enjoy the IDO shows, even though I rarely get a chance to spend enough time on the site anymore. Keep up the great work!

First hook throw for me is going to be far enough away from the dam an still be able to land a cast right on top. It is better to start further away and let out rope as needed.

Hi Scott,

We have had some decent trips together in the past but would love to get you out on a good wing dam bite sometime .

Just give me a shout and we can set up some tentative dates for what should be a prime time wing dam bite.

Great show as usual guys. Your camera guy is pretty good but I recognized a few of those wingdams I think the grand daughter and I shared one of them with Dustin while he was pre-fishing! That day wasn't too bad either, was it Dustin!!

Another great show guys. Where the tips of the wingdams you were fishing at a consitent depth or was the current the biggest determiner of fish being present? I've fished wingdams like that with crankbaits in August and did very well on bass both large and small mouth. Did you find any bass or just walleyes when you were fishing?

Great show and the education. I would like to know what line you were using. It looks like it would be easily see, an old fart needs all the help he can get to see he line.

Thanks

That was Trilene Sensation in 6 and 8 lb test. Hi Vis. That line is hard to find but some of the best places to find it would be: call Everts Resort, check Fleetfarms near the Mississippi River or buy it online. Unfortunately most retailers do not carry it.

Good question. At the time of year we did this shoot current was everything on the wing dams. In order to consistently get bit you needed to have water flow with the warm water temps we had. Bass love wing dams as well but rarely catch them unless I am casting crank baits. The bass tend to hold more on the backsides of the dams.
