I'm already planning for late ice, here's a few tankers caught by the crew, just a note: we are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the products you see, and there were fish harmed after posing for pictures. Great to see Leech looking so good as far as numbers of fish. Great show guys!

Wait until you see the Rainy crappie show this sunday. That might help you make a decision.

We would have loved to have got into some of the 14" mombo-jumbos Leech is know to kick out but for the first time fishing that lake... it was a blast. I could definitely see making a point of going again this spring if we can time the weather. How late in the year do you wait to make your trip? I talked with a number of guys that were really catching the heck out of the perch by mid-february last winter.

We had better weather for that ice shoot than we've had for most of October. It was rather spectacular to say the least.

I had a GL session with Matt after that trip. He was burned in the face pretty good from the sun/glare on that trip. This definitely needs to be added to the bucket list.

James when you say Rainy Lake crappies! You aren't talking about the big Slabs that come out of there are you?

If you are, when is the show on again?

our crew has a standing date planned each year, second week of March)whoever shows up, well shows up. We have stayed at a resort on a small lake just north of Winni for the past couple years, if Winni isn't producing, there is sure to be a lake around which is. Last year was our first trip to Leech, sure won't be the last. We are going to set up on a lake between Winni and Leech this March. We have enough trucks to spread out, then when someone stumbles into a motherload, we round up the trucks. We move from there if needed, sure shortens up a learning curve on a new body of water. And yes we also told perch fishing was really good the month before we showed up.

Yup, I had one heck of a sunburn after that episode! At this point I'm viewing Leech as my new mille lacs. Mille Lacs is old hat to me, and Leech has so much potential!! See you boys on the ice this season. Should have some good reports and videos

Such a big body of water, how did you guys make the decision to fish the spot you ended up finding the fish?

Thanks for the info, Chomps. I'm sure I'll make it up there a time or two over the ice season and will be sure to share a report or two. Please do the same when you get back from your trip.... those perch are just too much fun.

Lots of holes (LOTS & LOTS) and we got some info from Mr. Bob Bowman that he received from a friend of a friend that helped us head in the right direction. You're right... that is one huge lake. A little insider info goes a long way to narrowing down the search.

The more the merrier for that deal. It really isn't hard catching those perch. Finding them.... whole 'nother story. If you could time the weather a late season perch GTG on Leech would be about as much fun as you could have on the ice. Once the fish were located everyone would catch their fill.

A very good show on perch! You know sometimes icefishermen forget about details.... you brough up such a good point in changing colours when the light changes!

When I was out with him, Briank made the point that the more fish you catch the fewer fish you keep. Last year was a good year for me and the first time I ever did well all season long and gradually kept fewer and fewer fish all season long. Now, I almost rarely keep anything.

Watching this show really makes you think about targeting a species and making a reasonable harvest for immediate use rather than stocking a freezer full of fillets and then forgetting they're there... I think it sets a responsible example and a standard to which I find myself aspiring.

Good show, guys... it's thrilling to watch, makes me drool to be out there and (this is hard to say) even gets me a bit interested in ice fishing. Please don't tell my wife... at least not yet.
