Thanks for the kind words re: the shows. I think we keep improving each season so things should continue to get better. I know the plan for next year is to do a lot more original episodes so everyone that enjoys these shows should have that to look forward to.

James & Chad...fantastic fishing guys .. man those pike are a blast...I can't imagine catching em through the ice.. Thanks for mentioning the rods you were using.. I was wondering what type of tackle to use to target big pike like that through the ice.. everything I have now is geared towards the pan fish, but I'll have to start looking into those bigger walleye rods... ...

Man if that don't get the old ice mouth to watering I don't know what will.. thanks for the shows James!!

One of the Thorne Walleye Sweet Hearts will handle small to mid sized pike with ease but when I was tussling with the largest pike (what a TANKER) in this show I really wished I had been fishing with my Thorne Bros laker rod. I guess it depends on the size of pike you're likely to run into on a given trip. Most locations a guy would do fine with the lighter walleye rod. If you head to a trophy pike destination... that laker rod is the way to go.

Honestly I'm not sure. I'd guess upper 30's, low 40's. It was awful cold in the AM when we caught that one and we wanted to get it back in the water fast so we didn't frostbite any fins, etc. so we didn't weigh or measure her. She sure fought like heck. That was one fish that just would not give up.

Great Show James. It brings back a lot of good memories from Pasha Lake. Guys, I have never met Chad but I have had the chance numerous times to experiences Pasha Lake. It is unreal Fishing and snowmobiling. If you are looking to do one or the other or both give Chad a call.

CLICK HERE to read my incredible snowmobile experience up there back from a few years ago. 2003????? Man I'm getting old. They have some of the best groomed trails I have ever seen, but every time we went there we chose to ride down untouched powder fire roads for days. Powder that seemed to have no bottom and the best part is in the whole time we were here we saw only a handful of riders out in about. The lake effect from Nipigon is similar to the UP here but a lot less traffic. The snow doesn’t seem all that deep until you are 20 miles from Pasha and then it starts to build. If you truly want a fishing adventure ask Chad to fish the Splake lake. It is an adventure just getting to the lake, but the way those fish fight is well worth the hard work, not to mention the world class walleye fishing up there @ Pasha.

Man I want to go back.

Not sure if I will Hot Tub again in the -32 degree temps. At least not with out a waterproof stocking hat.

That was a great show. It must have been a repeat cause I just caught it this mornin but I always wondered if a fish would hit a camera (whatever brand) and I seen that shot that you showed of the pike hitting the underwater camera that was great.

Yup, so much for cameras spooking fish, eh? That one pike in particular was obsessed with the camera head, making lap after lap past the lens.

What did you add to the Slender Spoons?
What was the test of the Vanish?
How deep were most of the fish?
Thanks!

I added a replacement treble that was tied with some feather and tinsel to give some added flash and bulk, both of which seemed to slow the fall and did a great job of triggering biters.

For an example, here's some feathered trebles online. I also attached a photo of the same. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpageHDTTLUCKY-LCTFTH.html

I used 8# Vanish on both of my pike rods.

Most of the fish were caught in 10' - 15' of water with most of the larger fish coming on the shallow side of that range. The deeper we got the smaller the pike got.

Hey gutone4me

I bet that larger fish took about 5 minutes to land. Typically I'd like to see the fight come to a conclusion quicker than that but that larger pike caught me with my guard down when I was fishing a 36" Thorne Bros Walleye Sweetheart. My other "pike rod" on this trip was my 44" Thorne Bros laker rod... that rod would have shaved a couple minutes off the tussle for sure.

That Pasha Lakes area is an absolute treasure and for the most part it is nearly completely untouched except for the few anglers Chad @ Pasha Lake Cabins gets out on the ice each winter. I don't think I'll make it up there again this winter but I will be there at ice out looking for a 48" pike on light tackle.

Great show, but the last three weeks the same show has aired. Is that IDO's doing or my network? I would love to see more shows on the Mississippi River, particularly in the southern part of the state.
