James, I got a buddy who is a lurker here and is interested in switching from their current lodge in Ontario to maby moving to Pasha. His question is how long were the northerns? You metioned you were going to measure them and then didnt say how long they were. These guys are mostly interested in BIG northerns and you had a couple of pretty nice ones there. Since they like chasing those snot rockets I figured I would ask for him. thanks, Corey

The pike that Chad caught taped 41". The larger pike that I caught at the end of the show was never measured but I'd guess 38". maybe 39". Chad regularly catches low to mid 40" pike... some of the best pike lakes were inaccessible to us because the Skeeter was too big for launching on some of the unimproved accesses. With a 16' aluminum boat a guy could go anywhere and really get off the beaten path. I know one of the things I really enjoyed about fishing with Chad was talking about some of the various lakes ands rivers and asking him when the last time someone fished that particular body of water. Very often his answer would be in years, not days or months.
Pretty cool place. Bob Bowman and I are going to try and get up there this spring for ice out pike to see if we can't get into some upper 40" pike.

Awesome episode! I have been doing some research on the area and have a trip or two planned there this next summer. I asked Chad for a few references...here is a portion of one e-mail from "someone who has been there, done that:"
I have returned to the area every year but 5 for over 50 years. Although I have spent many hours fishing on Lake Nipigon (primarily when I was younger) the vast majority of our fishing is done on inland lakes and rivers feeding Nipigon.
Our group has varied from 4 to 9 guys and we have stayed at 6 different camps over 30 years. We have now stayed at Pasha Lake for over the past 15 years and I simply cannot say enough about the camp. It is run top notch for fisherman and hunters who want to succeed. The owners and staff are there to make sure you catch fish (and lots of them). We would not even consider another resort as long as we continue to fish the area. The fishing package includes all boats, motors, bait and gas. There are boats available at many lakes and trailers if you want to go other places. The equipment is maintained, clean and causes us very little issues. Chad took over the resort in 2005 and he is by far the most experienced fisherman to run the resort. He will see to it that you have an incredible fishing vacation. The little Jackfish River is truly a once in a lifetime event. We have caught over 500 walleyes with 5 guys in less than 4 1/2 hrs!! The average size was 19-23 inches. But honestly its almost unfair and I can't imagine fishing it more than once in a week long vacation. There are dozens of other lakes that offer fast action with even larger sizes and a few with Pike that are downright scary.

Great video. I spoke with Chad this weekend. The family will be heading up there in August for a week of scenery and apparently awesome fishing.

James, since I consider you a good friend here's a standing offer to let you borrow my 1990 16 foot Lund any time you need it. Just make sure to leave the keys to the Skeeter where I can find them
