As always great show. Now the question we all like to know what gear were you guys using this time. Rods, reels, and line. It looked like mono on Sealines. If so how do you like mono for pulling bouncers? I've only used braid in that situation.

James, did I see a downrigger mount attached to your rails? I need a new mounting alternative for my downriggers and I never even thought to look for something like that.

We were using 7"6" MM Tidemasters. Sealine 17's and 20/6 Spiderwire Stealth for the main lines. Leaders on the spinners were tied from 10# Berkley Vanish and most of the leaders were in the 48" range.

Great show, as always! I was surprised to see you guys fishing some water I tromped on a few weeks ago.

James, did I see in the video you guys left from Wigwam and boated up towards the Angle on a "windy day"? Having a big Skeeter and Smooth Moves really helps.. That's not an easy drive!

Yup, we sure did. We had hoped to film some of it but when we hit the gap the look on the camera man's face meant we had to put the gear up in safe storage... lol

As for the ride... it was bumpy but the Skeeter was fantastic. And you could find a better test for the seats.

Great video but I have a question? When Brett was showing us how he rigged two minnows each on a different hook, wouldn't that be considered two lures on one line and illegal in MN?

I certainly wouldn't think so as I'm pretty sure a spinner rig is considered one lure no matter how it is baited. If it does than that would mean that putting two crawlers on the same harness, something I do from time to time, is also illegal. Or two halves of crawler would also be illegal. OR what if a single crawler broke in half between the hooks? That would make it two pieces of bait and illegal? I wouldn't think it would matter but who knows, this is MN... land of 10,000 rules. You might want to send a email to the DNR to find out for sure.

The plan is to be back up to the Wigwam at the very end of March to do some late ice fishing with Tom. We'll see you then.

Yup, those clamp on mounts pinned to the rails worked slick. I boxed in the area around one of the verticals on the rail that tied into the gunnel of the boat with 1" x 1" pine and "sandwhiched" everything together with the clamping force of the mount itself. It handled the 8 Lb pancake weights easily. Brett and I actually started out doing a little trolling with the downriggers and found the fish to be very cooperative on the cranks as well as on the spinner rigs.

Here's a link to one of those mounts. A Canon quick release plate bolts to the top of this mount which allows you to take everything off inside of 10 seconds.
