Most accurate 12 gauge sabot slugs?????

I was just wondering what everyone is shooting for 12 gauge sabot slugs and their results. I've always shot federals w/the Barnes expanders. I picked up something new this year by Hornady, the SST shotgun slug. Has anbody shot these before? What in your opinion is the most consistant sabot slug on the market? I shoot a bolt action fully rifled 12 gauge. Thanks for any info!!!!

I shoot the Winchester Partition Golds 1900 fps 2 3/4". I am not saying that they are the best slug on the market, but they shoot the best out of my gun (870 Wingmaster magnum) with a slug barrel! They shoot flat, far, and are very accurate. I tried the Hornady SSTs and they were to inconsistent out of my gun.

Whether you shoot a smooth bore or riffled barrel, you need to find a slug that shoots well in your gun. Every slug will shoot different, it is very important to shoot different brands of slugs with your gun to find the one that will work best with your gun. So to answer your question there is no one slug that will work best in every gun.

This may help out a bit, I shoot a mossberg 695 fully rifled bolt action. If anyone has this set up maybe they can share what sabot shoots the best for them. Thanks for your imput everyone!!

the Barnes Expander, think it is the 1 oz. I have a 4 power scope on my slug gun. It is a tack driver.
good luck.

Same thing holds true for two identical guns, even if two guys both have a mossberg 695 fully rifled bolt action the same slug will not necessarily shot the same out of both guns.

Yep, you gotta go shoot three or four brands of slugs through your gun to see which one shoots best. I have an Ithaca Deer Slayer Storm that I can shoot 3" groups at 150 yards with. The best slug for my gun is the Remington Copper Solid. I shot Brenekes, Winchesters, Remingtons, and Federals to see which was the best. They all shot pretty well, but the Remingtons were the most consistent groupers for me.

Can't add to what others said, only verify!

After shooting slugs for over 20 years, I've found that each gun/barrel are sensitive for accuracy pending on the slug you use.

For me, the Barnes Expander 2.75 is the best for my gun. But I am going to play a little more with the Remingtons and Winchester this year.

It is hard to change up on a good thing, when my gun is accurate out to 200+ yards and it is dang expensive to play at $2.00 a pop!

Winchester Partition Gold Sabot...a 6 inch drop at 200yds. They are expensive at $2-$3 a shell, but hopefully you'll only need one!

I have a Remington 1100 and shoot 2.75 Federal Barnes expanders through a rifled remington barrel. I have shot these through 3 different guns and have had good groupings. I guess I just lucked out. I would however recommend 2.75 verses 3. The extra .25 is not worth it in my book, expecially when sighting in a gun.

Each shotgun has a particular slug that it shoots better than the others. My old shotgun performed great with Remington Copper solids while the new one doesn't shoot those well yet drives tacks with Barnes expander's.
Your best bet is to get a couple boxes of a few brands and see what your gun likes.
